Venita Ray, who was a member of PWN-USA’s Board of Directors until she accepted a deputy director position, has more than 20 years of experience working in underserved communities on social justice issues including affordable housing, environmental justice, health care and HIV. For four years prior to coming to PWN, she worked as public policy manager for Legacy Community Health in Houston, where she monitored HIV-related health policy and managed an advocacy training program for people living with HIV.

Venita speaks and trains locally and nationally on issues impacting the HIV community. In 2016, she led a citywide effort to end the HIV epidemic in Houston. Venita was diagnosed with HIV in 2003 while serving as an Assistant Attorney General for the Office of the Attorney General for the District of Columbia.
